1. Hawaii

You won’t need your passport to visit the No. 1 destination on the list, but you may feel as though you’re in another world thanks to Hawaii’s red- and black-sand beaches, lush sea cliffs, volcanic landscapes, abundant sea life and rich Polynesian culture.

Best for: Everyone — seriously. Each of the 6 major islands offers unique experiences tailored for a luxury, romantic, adventurous, eco-friendly or beach vacation.

2. Dubai

Don’t mind the triple-digit temps or humidity — you’re in Dubai, where you can ski (indoors) in the desert and shop at the world’s largest shopping mall. And if it’s shopping you want, don’t miss the Dubai Summer Surprises festival, where you can expect dramatic discounts, raffles and fireworks.

Best for: Indulging your fantasies, whether that’s being on top of the world at the Burj Khalifa or checking in to a 7-star hotel.

3. Bora Bora

If you conjure up images of the perfect island paradise in your head, it probably looks like Bora Bora’s stilted bungalows jetting out into the turquoise lagoon. A volcanic atoll, Bora Bora is surrounded by a circular coral reef, which makes it ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Best for: Romance. It truly is a honeymooner’s dream or special-occasion getaway.

4. Virginia Beach, VA

Virginia Beach, ocean, Virginia

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Virginia Beach is a prime summer destination beckoning tourists from up and down the mid-Atlantic with its 35 miles of sandy beaches. An extra-wide concrete boardwalk stretches 3 miles along the oceanfront and boasts benches for people- and sunset-watching, as well as a separate path for biking and blading.

Best for: Families who flock to the revitalized oceanfront resort area and the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center (not only on rainy days).

5. Amsterdam

At first, Amsterdam may seem out of place on this list, but summer is the ideal time to visit the city. The gray skies have lifted, festivals abound and events to enjoy include the Open Garden Days, when visitors can peek into the private gardens behind the beautiful houses that line the famous canals.

Best for: An urban adventure, traversing Amsterdam’s thousands of bridges and waterways by bike and by boat in search of the perfect brown café.

6. Ocean City, MD

This East Coast beach town is best known for its boardwalk, which boasts the requisite neon spray-painted T-shirts and old-school amusement rides. Grab your mallets and feast on hard-shelled crabs at Hooper’s crab house or drink in the sunset with a local craft brew in hand from Fager’s Island Restaurant & Bar’s large bayfront decks.

Best for: A classic, albeit kitschy, stroll along the boardwalk and the taste of Thrasher’s vinegar and Old Bay french fries.

7. Mackinac Island, MI

Mackinac Island, aerial view, Massachusetts

Mackinac Island, 20 minutes by boat from either the Upper or Lower Peninsula of Michigan, comes alive on summer weekends. Most of its roughly 4 square miles is designated parkland, ideal for hiking and cycling. Be sure to take in the beautiful architecture of its own painted ladies, Victorian cottages that date back to just after the Civil War.

Best for: A taste of times gone by; cars were banned more than a 100 years ago, and horse-drawn carriages are still used to get around today.

8. Catalina Island, CA

Angelenos looking for a respite from the smog and traffic are finding it on Catalina Island. Make the 22-mile trip by ferry or helicopter — the latter will set you back only about $110 — and you’ll find an island of paradoxes: campgrounds where wild buffalo roam (a herd was abandoned after a 1924 movie shoot) and the ritzy, Mediterranean-flavored city of Avalon.

Best for: A day at the beach spent snorkeling, swimming, hiking or biking.

9. Miami

Also offseason in the summer, Miami continues to draw visitors, especially Europeans and South Americans escaping winter. To keep cool in the blazing heat, you need only take a dip in the Atlantic, Biscayne Bay … or an infinity pool. You’ll be able to spread out on South Beach, plus people-watching on Lincoln Road and Miami Beach’s epic nightlife will be as entertaining as ever.

Best for: A spontaneous getaway to blow off a little steam on a boat or in the club.

10. The Bahamas

resort, palm trees, teal ocean, blue sky,

2015 Hilton Hotels & Resorts

While there is a risk of getting rained on during hurricane season, June generally sees mild weather, fewer crowds and significantly lower prices. While some resorts in the Out Islands close through November, New Providence and Paradise Island remain open year-round.

Best for: Families looking for a taste of laid-back island living.

How to build self confidence – Conviction November 15, 2014

The very first step in climbing the ladder of self confidence is firm conviction about one’s own ability. People are afraid of accepting challenges and responsibilities because they doubt about their capacity to perform well; they underestimate themselves and lose wonderful opportunity in life. Such Doubting Thomases will never be able to say with confidence that they can do anything and everything.

So never doubt your inner strength. You may not be aware at present but believe that infinite power is lodged with you and will come out with all its glory when you sincerely call upon it by way of positive attitude. Swami Vivekananda said “Never mind failure, they are quite natural, they are the beauty of life, these failures. What would life be without them? I never heard a cow tell a lie, but it is only a cow never a man. So never mind these failures , these little backsliding hold on to the ideal a thousand times , and if you fail a thousand times make the attempt once more.

How true it is! Thomas Alva Edison, one of the greatest scientists, who made a series of inventions, had great conviction in his capacity. He had made over 1000 experiments before he succeeded in inventing the electric bulb. Though he was born in poor American family and was dull in his studies, nothing could obstruct his path of prevent him from great achievements because of his firm faith in his inner strength.

“Great convictions are the mothers of great deeds”

bgpic2“What makes you weep, my friend? In you is all power. Summon up your all – powerful nature, o mighty one and this whole universe will lay at your feet. It is the self alone that predominates and not matter” – Swami Vivekananda

Though the potential strength is hidden within us , we are not able to utilize it Right attitude , positive thinking , and firm faith alone can help us to manifest this hidden strength within.

How to great people achieve success in life? They cultivate certain qualities in order to awaken the hidden confidence within themselves. Why not we also give a try if we wish to be great and successful in life?.

1) Conviction
2) Hard Work
3) Will – power
4) Self respect
5) Long preparation
6) Communication
7) Commitment
8) Discrimination
9) Define Goal
10) Love
11) Concentration
12) Strength

All the powers in the universe are already ours.

It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark. Know that there is no darkness around us. Takes the hand away and there is the light which was from the beginning.. Darkness never existed, weakness never existed. We who are fools cry that we are weak; we who are fools cry that we are impure. Thus Vedanta not only insists that the idea is practical, but that it has been so all the time; and the ideal, this reality is our own nature. Everything else that you see is false, untrue. As soon as you say, “I am a little mortal being,” you are saying something which is not true, you are giving the lie to yourselves, you are hypnotizing yourselves into some thing vile & weak and wretched.

Self Confidence Vs Ego October 12, 2014

There is a very thin line dividing confidence and ego. Most of the time we get confused and fail to decide whether we are on the right track or our ego is dominating in the guise of confidence. When ego dominates, every success turns into failure. One has to be very careful about it. How to distinguish between confidence and the ego.

Here are some points to clarify this doubt.

a) A man of confidence says that he can do the work and others also can do it. Whereas a man of ego says that he alone can do it and nobody else can.
b) A man of confidence always tries to encourage and help others in building their confidence , whereas a man of ego tries to curb and discourage others when they try to come up in life.

c) A man of confidence always attracts people. Even the weak feel confidence and elevated in his prescience and get inspiration in his company. Whereas an egoistic person creates repulsion in the minds of people who try to avoid him because of his boastful nature.

d) A man of confidence appreciates the success of others and shares his happiness with them. Whereas a man of ego discourages and humiliates others and feels jealous of the success of others.

e) There is joy in working with people of confidence because they are always cheerful and can mix freely with everybody. In the prescience of egoistic people even the men of confidence feel an inferiority complex. They feel nervous to work with them.

f) A man of confidence always commands love and respect, whereas a man of ego always demands and expects love & respect.

g) Confidant people are always successful in every field of life because they can conquer in every field of life because they can conquer the hearts of all by putting their faith and confidence. In others and receive all help and co operation from colleagues and friends. A man of ego always suffers setbacks and failures losing men and power because of his arrogant approach which adds only to his worries and tension.

h) In one word, a man of self confidence puts his faith in the innermost Divine Self, the source of all powers and energy, and also feels the presence of the divine in every one while dealing with them, where as the egocentric person puts his faith only in his mental and intellectual abilities and skills, forgetting the Divine which operates through mind and intellect out of ignorance. He applies the same standards while dealing with others. He is only aware of weaknesses and drawbacks and never realizes that the perfect Divine is hidden behind these superficial appearances, which can be awakened by constant training and positive approach.

There are times when we must go through negative situations. Maybe people say something negative about us, or they show rejection or even resentment against us. In such situations, it may be difficult to stay positive. We may be inclined to react negatively to them. That won’t do us any good though; doing so will just make the situation worse. People may behave even more negatively to us. Our day would be filled with anger and disappointment. At the end, nobody wins.
Though it’s not easy, it’s important to stay positive in negative situations. Beat the negative situations by staying positive. Here are 15 tips on how to do it; pick the ones that work for you

1.Never respond when you are not calm. If you are not sure that you are calm, don’t respond. Take time to calm yourself down first.

2.Take a deep breath as a first step to calm yourself down.

3.Speak in gentle tone to reduce the tension of the situation.

4.Realize that you can find opportunities in negative situations. Albert Einstein said: “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.”

5.Look at the content of what people say to you for something positive that you can act upon to improve yourself. Don’t just reject the whole messages.

6.For the rest of the messages which is negative, simply ignore it.

7.Maintain positive view of the people. Maybe you don’t like their messages or behavior, but that doesn’t mean that you can hate them personally.

8.Realize that having negative feelings will just hurt you, not them. So there is no reason for you to have any negative feeling.

9.If you make mistakes, be open to admit it.

10.If you make mistakes, remember this quote by George Bernard Shaw: “A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.”

11.If you can, listen to motivational audio program to feed positive thoughts into your mind.

12.Talk to a positive friend who can encourage you.

13.Remember your favorite quotes to give you inspiration and motivation. This is one reason why you should have quote of the day.

14.Look at the negative situations as your training sessions for real life. The higher you climb in life, the worse the negative situations would be, so you’d better be prepared for them.

15.Realize that you can’t please everyone. In fact, nobody can. Sometimes you need to just let some people go. Realizing this will relieve you from a lot of unnecessary burden so that you can focus on the people that you can positively interact with.
